How to actually pick one
The table above answers "what does it cost," which is rarely the real question. The real question is what a tool does with a session once it's recorded. Most of this category stops at video — you watch a recording, or you don't. A few, UserTapes included, also expose the session as structured data: searchable, filterable, and readable by something other than a human with time to scrub through footage.
That distinction matters most if you're already running AI coding agents. A recording nobody watches is a cost with no return; a session an agent can query over MCP — see the MCP server — turns "why did this user hit an error" into a question your agent can answer without you opening a dashboard at all.
