Session replay tools compared

Pricing, limits and retention for the tools people actually weigh against each other — each figure checked against the vendor's own page, with the date we checked it. Where a vendor does not publish something, it says so.

How to actually pick one

The table above answers "what does it cost," which is rarely the real question. The real question is what a tool does with a session once it's recorded. Most of this category stops at video — you watch a recording, or you don't. A few, UserTapes included, also expose the session as structured data: searchable, filterable, and readable by something other than a human with time to scrub through footage.

That distinction matters most if you're already running AI coding agents. A recording nobody watches is a cost with no return; a session an agent can query over MCP — see the MCP server — turns "why did this user hit an error" into a question your agent can answer without you opening a dashboard at all.

If price and session limits are the whole decision, the table has what you need. If you want the fuller reasoning — including where UserTapes is the wrong choice — the individual comparison pages below go deeper than a pricing row can.

FAQ

What does UserTapes do differently from the rest of this table?

Every tool here records video. UserTapes also derives a text transcript from the same events, so the same session is something a script or an AI agent can read over MCP instead of only something a human can watch.

Is there a free session replay tool with no card required?

UserTapes' free tier is 100 sessions with no card and no expiry. A few tools in this table have a free tier too, but check whether it expires after a trial window — several do.

Which of these tools are cookieless?

Cookieless capture varies by vendor — see each tool's own row and page for how it handles consent, since this is usually the deciding factor for teams in the EU or UK.

How often is this table updated?

Every figure is checked against the vendor's own pricing page directly, with the date of the last check shown under the table — not pulled from a stale comparison someone else published.
